Stefan Pichlmann was born 1976 in the Austrian city of Vöcklabruck. At the age of seven he started playing the piano at home - later continuing with classical piano education in the music school. Soon he developed a passion for composition and songwriting. He started performing as a band musician in the early 1990's. After earning his master's degree in biology, he decided to focus on his musical career. In 2008 he joined SoundDiary as a keyboard player and composer.

In 2015 Stefan also started an instrumental solo project under the pseudonym "maleFritz". Over the following seven years he created five music albums, all of which have a conceptional character. The most recent is called „Metta Through Layers“ and was released in 2022. Since there is no physical release, these albums can only be streamed online (i.e. via Spotify).
